Are your shoes “zero drop” (non-elevated heel)?Updated 10 days ago

Yes. Every Xero Shoes style (shoes, sandals, and boots) is zero-drop!

What does zero-drop mean?

“Drop” is the height difference between the heel and the ball of the foot. Most conventional shoes raise the heel anywhere from a few millimeters to over an inch. Zero-drop means the heel and forefoot sit at the same height, so your foot rests in a natural, level position. The same way it does when you’re barefoot.

Zero-drop is one of three things every Xero Shoes style shares, along with a wide toe box that lets your toes spread and a flexible sole that lets your foot bend and move.

Do you make anything with a heel?

No. We don’t offer any style with an elevated heel. If you’re looking for more protection underfoot rather than a heel, a few of our styles have a thicker or more cushioned sole while keeping the zero-drop design. Look into our Ridgeway line!

New to zero-drop?

If you’re coming from shoes with a raised heel, your feet and calves will be working a little differently. Ease in gradually with short walks at first, building up over a few weeks. Some mild muscle soreness at the start is normal, but if you have an existing foot or leg condition, or a healthcare provider has recommended a heel lift, check with them before switching.
